The mission of The Bridge 2 Home (The Bridge) is to provide a safe and loving home for girls who are sex traffic survivors where they can find healing and growth and can experience the love of a perfect Heavenly Father who pursues them. This means that they will experience love and acceptance at The Bridge regardless of their faith and beliefs. The victims will have opportunities to participate in youth focused activities to support their spiritual growth and experience community. The victims will never experience discrimination due to different beliefs or lack of belief. If they choose not to participate in faith driven activities, alternative activities will be offered based upon the individual interests of each victim.
Our vision is to have a place where children can be protected and safely exit trafficking. It is important that all levels of the organization are trauma-informed and victim centered. It is our vision to have several campuses and provide safety and security to children and young adults. Our vision us to see trafficked victims become survivors and leaders and transfer the knowledge and healing to other victims, through trauma-informed/victim centered best practices.
Trauma-informed principles are best practices in supporting victims of trauma. We believe in the physical and emotional safety of everyone. We believe that transparency/trustworthiness supports healthy relationships. We value peer support and collaboration between the service provider and the children we serve. We believe in empowering our girls. Supporting their voices and choices are all elements of healing and thriving. We recognize the connection of recent and past victimization and the impact of historical trauma.
In 2021, according to the SC Human Trafficking Task Force Annual Report, SC DSS, identified 236 victims of human trafficking. For those children that manage to escape, there are few resources in South Carolina to assist them. The Bridge 2 Home in Aiken is a refuge that offers a safe home as those girls heal and grow. No one organization can do this job, through fundraisers and donations we will make it possible for girls to heal and discover who they were created to be.
